of
Utah
State
University.
Utah
Public
Radio
broadcasts
a
mix
of
information,
public
affairs,
and
fine
arts programming.
The system is on the air 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 52-weeks a year. We broadcast through two FM radio stations (KUSU-FM and KUSR) and a system of 27 translator stations.
Utah Public Radio is a member of National Public Radio (NPR) and an affiliate of Public Radio International (PRI) and of American Public Media (APM). We hold membership in Western States Public Radio, The Rocky Mountain Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Utah Broadcasters Association, the Radio Resources Consortium, The Development Exchange, the National Translator Association, and the Public Radio Association of Development Officers (PRADO). We receive programming from several independent program producers, including The Beethoven Satellite Network, provider of a 24-hour-a-day classical music service. We subscribe to the Associated Press news service.
Utah Public Radio is connected to the public radio system via the Public Radio Satellite System. Through this system many channels of full-fidelity, high-quality, stereo programming are available to Utah Public Radio 24-hours a day.
Utah Public Radio provides hours of programs daily which extend the university and its resources to the community and the state. We broadcast addresses given by prominent visitors, guest speakers, faculty members, and visiting experts on a wide range of topics. In-depth interviews with speakers, artists, authors, musicians, policy makers, and administrators helps extend the resources of USU to the listening audience.
Utah Public Radio broadcasts many local and state cultural events with resident and visiting artists and performers.
Utah Public Radio (through satellite connections around the world) broadcasts news makers, policy-makers, performers, events, and activities from across the country and around the world. We broadcast public hearings, state legislative hearings, national hearings, debates, etc.
Utah Public Radio provides a source of public relations for the University. Through its normal broadcast activities, Utah Public Radio is able to provide a great deal of publicity and promotion for Utah State University. By discussing activities, events, and issues at the University, good, positive public support and interest in the University can be generated.
