Q: How do I get the most updated list of restaurants and benefits?
A: The restaurants and other benefit providers listed here at MemberCard.com share your support of Public Broadcasting. This website is updated daily to give you an up-to-date listing of the benefits you receive as a member of your local Public Broadcasting station. Both local and national benefits are available to you as a member – procedures for traveling with your MemberCard are explained below.
In addition to viewing the listings on the website, you may call Member Services at 800-423-7645 for an updated directory. To learn of the latest changes over the past several weeks, the hotline recording is available at 888-727-4411.
Q: Are all of the restaurants 2-for-1, and how does that work?
A: Check online or in your printed directory for specifics on each restaurant's 2-for-1 offer. Generally, when you order two or more dinners or entrées, the least expensive dinner or entrée will be deducted from your check. You may use the MemberCard once at each participating restaurant. Simply present your MemberCard when paying your check to receive your free entrée; the restaurant will mark out its assigned number on the back of your card or directory.
Q: Are all of the attractions, inns/bed & breakfasts, and golf courses 2-for-1, and how does that work?
A: Check online or in your printed directory for details on these benefits' 2-for-1 offer to MemberCard holders. You may use your MemberCard once at each participating benefit unless specified otherwise. Redemption for most attractions are made at the box office, and are not available through TicketMaster or any other third party vendors. When making overnight reservations, or when reserving tee times, let the organization know you will be using your MemberCard.
Q: What does "Anytime" mean?
A: The MemberCard program is a 2-for-1 savings program for dining, arts, and other types of savings. "Anytime" means that you may use your MemberCard to receive the savings any time the restaurant or benefit provider is open for business.
Q: Can I use the MemberCard if I am dining alone?
A: The MemberCard program is a 2-for-1 offer, therefore it is up to the restaurant’s discretion whether they wish to provide the discount for MemberCard holders who are dining alone. We suggest that you contact the restaurant before visiting to determine whether you will be able to use your card as a single diner.
Q: How many MemberCards may be presented for a group?
A: Unless otherwise noted, no more than three MemberCards may be used in any one group, and a separate MemberCard must be presented for each 2-for-1 offer.
Q: On what value should the tip be figured when dining?
A: For satisfactory service, please tip the standard 15-20% of the total check before any deduction is made.
Q: Is the MemberCard honored on holidays or for specials?
A: The MemberCard is not valid on major US and Canadian holidays including Canada Day, New Year’s Eve and Day, Boxing, Valentine’s, Presidents’, St. Patrick’s, Easter, Good Friday, Mother’s, Memorial, Father’s, Independence, Labor, Remembrance, Victoria, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eves and Days and is not valid for specials such as Children’s Plates and appetizers or in conjunction with other specials offered at the same time (Early Bird Specials, etc.).
Q: May I check listings by telephone?
A: You may call the benefit hotline at 888-727-4411 for updates.
Q: What should I do if a benefit provider does not honor my MemberCard?
A: Should any problems arise with any of your MemberCard benefits, or if you are aware of a company wishing to participate in the MemberCard program, please call 800-423-7645 during normal business hours (EST). This number will put you in touch with MBI, the company assisting your local public broadcasting station with the MemberCard program.
Q: How do I take advantage of benefits outside my station’s area?
A: You must have a special travel card to visit outside of your station’s program. The Public Broadcasting MemberCard is accepted in most US states and provinces within Canada. Check the map for more information on the latest MemberCard locations. Call 800-423-7645 to order your Travel Cards or order online.
Q: I only pledged a few months ago, but my card expires at the end of this year. Why?
A: Your station determines the length of your membership and the expiration date of your MemberCard based on the date your pledge was processed. If you feel there has been an error or would like to check on your pledge information, please contact the Member Services department of your local station. You can find the phone number for your local station on the inside front cover of your MemberCard Directory, or you may call Member Services at 800-423-7645 to get the number.
Q: I pledged to receive a tape/book/video… why did I receive this card?
A: Stations send out MemberCards and thank you gifts separately. Usually, the gifts take 4-6 weeks to ship.
